Description: Interarms-imported Valmet M71/S is a highly desirable Finnish semi-automatic rifle chambered in .223 Remington (5.56×45mm). It was manufactured by Valmet of Finland and imported into the United States by Interarms during the 1970s and early 1980s. Today, the M71/S is considered one of the finest AK-pattern rifles ever imported into the U.S. market. The M71/S is the commercial semi-automatic version of the Finnish RK 71 rifle. It evolved from the famous Finnish RK 62 service rifle, itself derived from the AK-47 but significantly refined with improved sights, manufacturing quality, and accuracy. The .223 version was developed specifically for export markets, especially the United States, where .223 ammunition was more readily available than 7.62×39 at the time.
