Dutch Colonial Contract Johnson Model 1941 Rifle .30-06
Description: Serial #9689, .30-06, 22" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome rifle that retains 85-90% of a professionally applied added blue finish that has silvered along the receiver and edges of the ventilated handguard, and also intentionally polished to bright on the bolt handle, breech end of the barrel (not visible when the barrel is dismounted), and muzzle crown. The right side of the receiver has the small Dutch colonial five-pointed star acceptance stamp above the "CRANSTON / ARMS / CO.", which is still quite sharp and clear. The barrel barrel bushing caliber marking is no longer visible and there are machining marks present on the face, but the underside of the barrel breech still has the "I (sword) O" proof applied to all of the Netherlands contract rifles. White paint has been added to the front sight blade for visibility, and a target aperture disk has been fitted to the rear sight. The walnut forend and buttstock are of the early "solid" type without laminated sections behind the rotary magazine, and have been nicely refinished to excellent condition with scattered minor handling marks throughout. Lastly, a 1948-dated MRT M1 canvas sling is installed. Also included with the rifle are an information packet with laminated disassembly instructions, and a 90 minute informational DVD from Joe Scott. The rifle is in very good-near fine condition, mechanically excellent, and would make a a great shootable addition to any collection. FFL or C&R; SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
