Description: Price includes prepaid full coverage insurance in the lower 48 states of the USA. Description: The M1941 Johnson Rifle is an American short-recoil operated semi-automatic rifle designed prior to World War II. The 1941 Johnson was used by the Marines during WWII including Iwo Jima and the 1st Parachute Battalion during the Guadalanal campaign. Made by Cranston Arms of Providence, RI, USA. About 22,000 Johnson rifles were produced compared to over 5 million M1 Garands produced. Comes with original Johnson Bayonet and its original leather sheath. Stitching and closure all in good shape and function. The M1941 Johnson competed with the Springfield with its U.S. M1 Garand Rifle for becoming the main battle rifle for the US military. Condition: This rifle is in immaculate condition with few imperfections. Barrel is excellent with bore shiny throughout and great riflings. Bore calipers 0.00 with standard .30 caliber bore gauge showing very little use. Completely functional and shootable. No cracks. Small chip on tip of wooden handgrip. Light handling marks on wood of stock. Flaming bomb with US marked on underside of forestock. Metal work is good with no imperfections and free of corrosion. This is an early model (1941) having a bolt that will locks open for cleaning the bore. The M1941 rifle uses the energy from recoil to cycle the rifle. As the bullet and propellant gases move down the barrel, they impart force on the bolt head which is locked to the barrel. The Johnson rifle utilizes a two-piece stock and a unique 10-round rotary magazine, designed to use the same 5-round stripper clips already in use by the M1903 and 1903A3 Rifle. This system has advantages in comparison to the M1 Garand rifle, such as a greater magazine capacity combined with the ability to recharge the magazine with ammunition (using 5 or 10 round model 1903 clips or individually) at any time, even with the bolt closed on a chambered round. Finally; that the Johnson rifle did not—unlike the M1 Rifle—eject an en bloc clip upon firing the last round in the magazine with its tell-tale ping, was considered an advantage by some soldiers. Despite repeated requests by the Marine Corps to adopt the rifle, the Johnson rifle lacked the support of US Army Ordnance, which had already invested considerable sums in the development of the M1 Garand. The Army Garand study budget was over ran by over $1 million. The cost overage was buried in the costs of the M1 Garand full production order. Rifle is fully functional. Zelle, cashiers check, money order or personal check accepted. Layaway with monthly payments accepted.
