Joslyn Carbine .56 Conversion, Breech loader rifle
Description: Listed is a Joslyn Carbine model 1861/1862. this is a .56 Caliber conversion. This was the first mass produced breech loader during the civil war. The inventor was Ben Franklin Joslyn. The rifle was produced through and by Springfield Armory. The inventory began a dispute with the U.S. Government and it hurt the production of the rifle. Several thousand were ordered, but by the end of the war only a fraction of the rifles were delivered. The excess was eventually sold to Argentina. This rifle is in very good condition. The barrel has turned into a beautiful antique brown patina.
