Antique S. SMALL Marked Half-Stock .40 Cal. Percussion American LONG RIFLE PENNSYLVANIA Style OHIO Made Long Rifle!
Description: Antique S. SMALL Marked Half-Stock .40 Cal. Percussion American LONG RIFLE PENNSYLVANIA Style OHIO Made Long Rifle! Here we present an antique Ohio Long Rifle by Samuel Small, made circa 1860 in Lisbon, Ohio. Samuel Small was a third generation German-American gunsmith. According to the 1879 publication of the History of Columbiana, John Small settled in Lisbon in 1806. He was succeeded by his son David, and David was succeeded by his son Samuel. Samuel was still active as a gunsmith as late as 1879. This rifle’s octagonal barrel is in .40 caliber, large enough to take small to medium sized game or to defend the homestead against unwanted aggression. Rifle manufacture in the mid-to-late 19th Century was rapidly changing over from thousands of craftsmen all over the United States and on the Frontier making and selling their wares, to the large factories with standardized assembly lines and modern manufacturing techniques. Many makers’ names of the so-called Kentucky long rifles have been lost over time. This rifle is one that survived. The overall condition is very good. The action functions. The bore is semi-bright and remains in good shape. “S. SMALL” is marked atop the barrel. A great piece of hardware from the mid-19th Century! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36-1/4 inches. Caliber: .40 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1645 #20106 SOLD Antique: Yes |
