L. POMEROY U.S. Model 1816 FLINTLOCK Musket c.1825
Description: L. POMEROY U.S. Model 1816 FLINTLOCK Musket c.1825 Original “N. CAROLINA” Marked Flintlock Dated 1825 Here we present an antique Contract U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket by Lemuel Pomeroy with Bayonet, manufactured in 1825 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Pomeroy (1778-1858) became a prolific maker of small arms for various state militia and law enforcement contracts, such as Massachusetts and the State of New York or, in this case, North Carolina. Between the years of 1817-1836, Pomeroy manufactured 21,600 of these Model 1816 muskets. This is a scarce and original martial flintlock that would be a fine addition to any collection of US Military flintlocks. The lock is marked “L. POMEROY/1825/US” with a federal eagle. The top of the barrel tang bears a matching date of “1825”. The top of the barrel is marked “N. CAROLIA” along with the proof marks “US/JM/P”. There is still the remnant of an inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock, opposite the lock. The butt plate is marked “US”. The bayonet is marked “US/SM”. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces bear a mottled, dark patina. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is smooth and sound with just a little crack behind the front barrel band on the right side. The barrel tang screw and hammer screw are replacements. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a really neat Model 1816 made by Pomeroy for the North Carolina Militia! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 40-1/2 inches. Caliber: .69 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3000 #6446 SOLD Antique: Yes |
