Mid-1800s Antique J. HENRY Half-Stock .45 Percussion American LONG RIFLE
With PENNSYLVANIA RIFLE WORKS Marked Lock
Description: Mid-1800s Antique J. HENRY Half-Stock .45 Percussion American LONG RIFLE With PENNSYLVANIA RIFLE WORKS Marked Lock Here we present an antique J. Henry Half Stock Percussion Long Rifle, made circa the early 1860s, right in the middle of the Civil War era. John Joseph Henry started his business in Philadelphia in 1807 and closed it in 1822, merging his operations with his brother William’s business going by the name of Boulton Gun Works in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. After this time his guns were marked “JJ HENRY, BOULTON”. John’s son Joseph joined the firm in 1831, and after he passed away, his son James took over the business. After James’ son, Granville, became a partner in the firm in 1859, the guns were marked “J. HENRY & SONS”. Its stout octagonal barrel is in .45 caliber, large enough to take medium to large sized game or to defend the homestead against unwanted aggression. Rifle manufacture in the mid-to-late 19th Century was rapidly changing over from thousands of craftsmen all over the United States and on the Frontier making and selling their wares, to the large factories with standardized assembly lines and modern manufacturing techniques. Many makers’ names of the so-called Kentucky long rifles have been lost over time. The overall condition is good. The hammer will not hold in the cock position, even when the trigger is set. Good bore for its age. Legible markings. Solid stock overall with a smooth finish and low handling wear. “W. WEBER” is marked on the patchbox. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 37-3/8 inches. Caliber: .45 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #247390 SOLD Antique: Yes |
