SYRACUSE, NY Antique J.H. RECTOR Half-Stock BACK ACTION .41 Caliber RIFLE
Description: SYRACUSE, NY Antique J.H. RECTOR Half-Stock BACK ACTION .41 Caliber RIFLE NEW YORK Long Rifle Made Circa the 1840s Here we present an antique J.H. Rector Half Stock Percussion Target Rifle, made circa 1858 by John H. Rector. John Rector was a local gunsmith in Syracuse, NY who produced high quality firearms from the 1830’s through the 1860’s. Rector’s specialty was heavy percussion target rifles and somewhat lighter plains rifles for westward expansion. A historical directory from 1850 shows that his gun making business was located on Water Street in Syracuse. This rifle features a heavy octagonal barrel in .41 caliber. “J. H. RECTOR SYRACUSE NY 1858” is engraved on the top flat. “JOSH GOLCHER” is marked on the lock. It has scroll engravings on the breech and tang. German silver décor. Double set triggers. There is a threaded aperture for a tang-mounted rear aperture sight. About 12 pounds, 15 ounces. This is a very nice target rifle from a well-known New York State gun maker! The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The small adjustment screw for the set trigger is absent. The bore is dark gray with good rifling. A very nice, heavy New York target rifle from the mid-19th Century! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 33-3/4 inches. Caliber: .41 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1495 #20326 SOLD Antique: Yes |
