UTICA, NY Antique JAMES & FERRISS Long Rifle .40 Perc. Medium-Heavy Barrel
c1860s
Description: UTICA, NY Antique JAMES & FERRISS Long Rifle .40 Perc. Medium-Heavy Barrel c1860s Here we present an antique James & Ferriss Half Stock Long Rifle, made circa the late-1850s in Utica, New York. Morgan James & George Ferriss made heavy barreled match rifles during their relatively brief partnership. Both were gifted smiths but it is said that James had a bad temper and possibly a problem with drink that may have severed their connection. During the American Civil War, sharpshooters are said to have used their rifles. After the breakup of the partnership, James worked on his own, making guns as well as fly rod reels before working for Remington in Ilion. This example has been refinished. Reflective, rifled bore. Substantial crack around the lock assembly causes movement. Repair along the right forend. The trigger return spring is broken but the action is functional. Legible markings. Replacement percussion nipple. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32-3/8 inches. Caliber: .40 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1100 #254067 Antique: Yes Price: $1,100.00 Buy Now Pay with ![]() Contact Seller |
