Austrian Mannlicher in 7x57 Mauser, DST
Description: Offered for your consideration is this fine Austrian proofed Mannlicher in 7x57 Mauser (.275 Rigby) caliber. Made in 1932, it’s built on a 98 Mauser action and has many components and features of the Mannlicher Schoenauer 1903 -1910 rifles. The barrel profile, the front sight ramp and folding leaf rear sight, the muzzle end cap, front and rear sling swivels, trigger guard and double set triggers are identical to the ones found on early MS rifles. The receiver bears the MS Austrian proof mark and date code. This rifle may have been made by one of the contract shops Mannlicher employed, it was professionally made and certainly bears the quality hallmarks of a classic Mannlicher Schoenauer. The barrel is 18 inches long with a sharp, bright bore from throat to muzzle. I rate the bore 9.8 on a 1 to 10 scale. The ramp front sight and folding leaf rear sight are, as noted, identical to the MS sights. The action is mechanically excellent, feeds, chambers and ejects properly. The front receiver ring has been stippled and it has claw mount scope bases. The barrel and receiver retain 90%+ bluing with light handling and use wear. The stock is beautifully made and in excellent condition. It has a smooth metal butt plate in the MS style but doesn’t have the trap for storing cartridges or a pull through oiler. It weighs 6 ½ pounds. Take a look at the photos, I’ll be glad to answer any questions and supply additional photos if you’ll specify the views you’d like to see.
