Mannlicher Schönauer ~ Model 1952 ~ .270 Winchester
Description:
This classic world-famous Austrian-made bolt action rifle is a Mannlicher Schönauer Model 1952 Carbine chambered in .270 Winchester. It has the full length Mannlicher wood stock with diamond checkering on both the fore arm and the pistol grip, a Schönauer 5 round rotary magazine, it has the single trigger mechanism, a swept back butterknife bolt handle, and a Monte Carlo comb. The safety is a right-side thumb lever at the rear of the receiver. The left side of the receiver is stamped Steyr—Daimler—Puch A.G., Steyr. The iron sights consist of a hooded, ramp front sight and a two-leaf, open rear sight with a "U" shaped notch. The shorter leaf was supposed to be regulated for 100-200 yards and the taller (folding) leaf for 300 yards. Both sights are mounted in standard dovetails that can be drifted laterally to adjust for windage. The top of the front receiver ring and the front sight ramp are stippled to reduce glare. The high gloss bluing is in very fine condition, showing some minimal wear at the muzzle and the end of the bolt lever. The wood is in generally good condition, but does show some marks and dents in a few places. This little carbine is well-balanced, easy to carry, fast to point and accurate. .270 Winchester
