Steyr Mannlicher-Schönauer Model 1961 MCA 30-06 Half-Stock
Description:
First-year Steyr Mannlicher-Schoenauer Model MCA, manufactured in 1961 (Serial No. 33807). The bore is mirror-sharp, factory-original rifling and zero evidence of pitting or frosting. Metal surfaces retain near-100% original bluing, with only minor handling wear. This gun was designed (plate) for a scope but never configured for that purpose. Light wear is from admiration and has been a Queen in my collection. Came from an estate in Brooklyn, NY years ago. Shipping is only between FFL. Please submit copy of your receiving FFL License to my shipping FFL prior to shipping. I will provide actual shipping cost and Insurance for the rifle's value to be included with payment. Gun will ship upon confirmation of cleared funds. Offers considered. dcg
Note:
The Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1961 MCA represents Old-World Austrian gunsmithing before modern industrial economics forced its permanent retirement. When Steyr-Daimler-Puch shut down the Mannlicher-Schoenauer production lines entirely around 1968–1971, it marked the end of an era. The rifle was not discontinued because its engineering failed; it was discontinued because its manufacturing process was a financial impossibility in a modernizing world. It was a victim of total quality craftsmanship colliding with post-war labor costs. The forensic reality of how 1961 MCA was manufactured in Steyr, Austria, explains why it stands completely apart from modern production firearms:
