Description: HIGH CONDITION AND RARE SPECIAL ORDER 1893 TAKEDOWN WITH EXTRA LONG 30" OCTAGON BARREL AND FULL MAGAZINE, .30-30 CALIBER, #349XXX, MADE 1906. Extra long barrels in the Model 1893 are almost always found chambered in the black powder calibers .32-40 and .38-55 and is most unusual with smokeless calibers. Interestingly, Winchester didn't offer longer than standard barrels in their rifles unless chambered for black powder cartridges. This is a really beautiful and unusual Marlin that retains excellent vivid case colors on the receiver sides, and top with good lightly faded colors on the upper tang and receiver bottom. The sides of the lever as well as the receiver ring on the barrel assembly also show some nice case color. The barrel, loading gate and magazine show fine deep blue and all markings are sharp and clear. Original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and Rocky Mountain blade front sight. Even the forend cap retains fine blue. Excellent stock and forearm with tight wood to metal fit. Excellent screw heads and sharp, bright excellent bore. I have a Marlin letter on this rifle that for some reason lists the barrel length as standard 26" octagon. I believe this was simply an error in book keeping when this rifle was made. condition is completely original and consistent from butt to muzzle. Overall a most attractive extra long barrel 116 year old 1893!
