Description: ( sold - Michael ) This is a Marlin Model 1889 - Marlin's first side eject model. This rifle was made in 1892 according to the Cody Museum search. These are somewhat scarce, and it is especially rare to find one like this in fine condition. The 1889's standard receiver was a high polish blue - you can see the forge lines on this receiver, sharp edges and crisp lettering on receiver and barrel. This rifle has a 24" full octagon barrel with an excellent, bright shiny bore. Excellent sharp lands and grooves. It is chambered for the 44-40, and it feeds, fires and ejects as it should. The metal surfaces show smaller areas of carry wear, small scratches, minor cleaning and a little more carry wear and plumbish toning on the magazine tube. There are still very nice case colors on the lever and hammer. It is my opinion that the wood was very lightly refinished - Marlin rifles typically have the wood flush to the metal, sometimes even a hair below the metal on antiques. This rifle has just a couple of spots where the wood is just a hair below the metal , most areas are flush or just proud - however, it does look very, very nice - the profile is not changed, it fits tight, wood and metal stamped numbers match. Overall this is a very fine, very attractive rifle in the .44 - 40 caliber! ***** Please Know your local laws - This may require a FFL transfer in some areas. I am a FFL - I do require that you can legally own a firearm and provide a copy of your state I.D. ***** Price includes shipping and insurance. I can accept a C.Card with a .03% fee. Thank you.
