The Marlin Firearms Company introduced the Glenfield model 60 rifle in 1966. This semi-auto rifle is in 22 LR caliber featured a walnut stained plain pistol grip hard wood stock, tubular magazine, standard barrel mounted sights and a grooved raised rib on the receiver for scope mounting. This rifle was an instant success with the public and a wide variety of spin-offs of this rifle were introduced over the years. The rifle has like any firearm undergone small improvements to some of its smaller parts but as a whole, it has stayed very much the same. The Glenfield name was discontinued by Marlin in 1982 and the model 60 has continued in production even til today. .22 Long Rifle
