For sale is an early production (1959-1961) Marlin Model 57 'Levermatic' chambered in .22 Magnum (.22 WMR). The Model 57 was a rimfire .22 rifle produced in the U.S. by the Marlin Firearms Company from 1959-1965 in both .22 Long Rifle and .22 Magnum. At the time of its release, both chamberings shared the same model nomenclature, but 1961 saw the .22 Magnum offering change to the 'Model 57M' and was visually differentiated by a rounded rear receiver tang. The rifle features a plain oil-finished walnut stock with raised comb, sling swivels, and original black plastic buttplate. The barrel measures 24" long and has Marlin's signature "Micro-Groove" rifling. The rifle holds up to 15 cartridges in the tube magazine and the action is a top-ejecting design. The lever even uses a short lever throw for very quick cycling and the trigger has a gold finish to it. The rifle does have a manual safety which deactivates the trigger and keeps the lever/action locked in the closed position. The rear sight has an elevator adjustment and the front sight has a brass bead and serrated ramp; the receiver is also drilled and tapped to accept scope mounts.
