This is a third style Model 1881 with the REISSUE NOV. 9, 1180 barrel marking is the desirable 38-55 caliber. The 28"" octagon barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling and frosting in the grooves. It is equipped a German silver blade front sight and a buckhorn rear sight. The barrel has approx. 85% of its blue which is starting to turn brown. The receiver has approx. 60% blue mixed with spotting and fine scratches. The magazine tube is blue/brown. The butttstock is good with use dents and dings but no chips or cracks. It has the standard crescent buttplate. The forearm is good with an old repaired crack on the right and some dings on the left. The action functions correctly. This better than aberage Marlin Model 1881 would be a good fit in your collection!
