Description:
24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 32 WCF caliber with a good bore that has shine with some scattered roughness and distinct rifling. Sights include a silver blade front and sporting semi-buckhorn rear. Barrel and full length magazine tube are mostly a chocolate brown patina. Receiver is brown with some fine scattered pitting and few oxidation blemishes. Loading gate is brown with traces of blue. Hammer and lever are mostly brown also. There are a few buggered screws. Walnut stocks have been lightly sanded with some light handling marks. There is a hook shaped crack on the left wrist by the lower tang. Crescent buttplate. A number has been scratched in the lower tang. Nice smooth functioning action. A good representative example of a hard to find Marlin 1888 with only 4,800 made from 1888-1889. This one was made in 1889.
