MARLIN 1893 DELUXE .38-55 RIFLE, #211XXX, MADE 1900
Description: MARLIN 1893 DELUXE .38-55 RIFLE, #211XXX, MADE 1900. This is an interesting rifle that came out of here in Montana. It has a 26" round barrel, half magazine, pistol grip, checkered, shotgun butt and fancy walnut. The left side of the receiver has period engraved "H. J. Stewart." Fine, lightly aged barrel and mag blue with one small area on the barrel about 4" back from the muzzle with old pin-prick pitting that blends well and is very minor. Barrel markings are sharp including the "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" stamping. Has the original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and Rocky Mountain blade front sight. The receiver case colors have aged to an uncleaned mottled gray with small traces of color in the most protected areas, good blue on the loading gate and excellent screw heads. Stock and forend are fine with tight wood to metal fit and shows only normal light handling. Checkering shows some light wear, but is all fine. Marlin embosed hard rubber shotgun butt plate has a small chip at the toe that does not go in to the wood. Very tight action, strong safety half-cock and excellent sharp bore. Comes with a Cody call-in sheet (I called it in) that verifies the pistol grip, barrel and magazine and caliber- Marlin letters are rarely more detailed. I'm sure "H. J. Stewart" was very proud of this fine 123 year old deluxe Marlin!
