Description: INV. 11978 RARE, MARLIN MDL. 1889, CAL .38-40, SER. 56812, SPECIAL ORDER ROUND 24" BARREL, MFG. 1891. THIS VERY SHORT-LIVED MODEL HAS RETAINED ABOUT 80-85% OF THE ORIGINAL FACTORY BLUE, THE LOSS IS PRIMARILY DUE TO FADING AND SOME VERY SLIGHT RUB MARKS, AND THE CASE-COLORED RECEIVER HAS FADDED TO A SOFT SILVER. THERE IS ACTUALLY VERY LITTLE EVIDENCE OF RUST ANYWHERE ON THE GUN. THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES OR RUB MARKS EITHER. THE WOODEN PARTS SEEM TO HAVE RETAINED ABOUT 85% OF THE ORIGINAL LACQUER THERE IS SOME LOSS AT THE PISTOL GRIP. THE RE A FEW LIGHT SCATTERED DINGS BUT CERTAINLY LESS THAN EXPECTED FROM A 132-YEAR-OLD" CABINET QUEEN". ALL PARTS ARE ORIGINAL TO THE GUN, .THE LOADINDING GATE, BOLT RAILS, AND FEED RAMP SHOW ONLY MODEST USE. THE BORE SHOWS SOME AGE, HOWEVER, IT IS QUITE BRIGHT WITH WELL-DEFINED RIFLING AND SOME SCATTERED FROST..A CURSURY EXAMINATION INDICATED THE GUN OPERATES CORRECTLY.
