VERY EARLY MARLIN MODEL 27 (NOT 27S) .32-20 PUMP ACTION OCTAGON RIFLE, MADE 1909-1910
Description: VERY EARLY MODEL 27 (NOT 27S) .32-20 PUMP ACTION OCTAGON RIFLE, MADE 1909-1910. This was marlin's only pump action center fire rifle that was introduced in 1909 in .25-20 and .32-20 caliber. A minor design change in 1910 was added and the model designation was changed to "Model 27S." This example is stamped "Model 27" without the "S" designation which dates it to the first year of production. None of this model were serial numbered, but they were made from 1909 until 1932 when it, like so many other firearm models, fell victim of the Great Depression and was discontinued. This is a takedown rifle with a unique and very simple takedown method- with the action closed, the hammer is pulled back and the thumb screw on the left and the lever on the right front of the receiver are unscrewed. Then the butt stock is moved to the right while the barrel portion is moved to the left and it comes apart with all the internal parts locked in place so they can't fall out. This example shows fine deep blue on the barrel and mag tube, the receiver also shows good blue with some thinning of the blue especially on the left forward side from normal handling. Sights are the original buckhorn with blade/bead front. Markings are sharp and clear, mech. is tight and the bore is excellent. The stock shows only light handling with tight wood to metal fit. Forend and all screws are all excellent. A super early non-"S" Model 27 in desirable .32-20 caliber! These are not often seen. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .32-20 Winchester Manufacturer: MARLIN Model: MODEL 27 Serial Number: NSN Barrel Length: 24" OCTAGON Condition: FINE+ Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
