VERY FINE SCARCE MARLIN MODEL ’93 SPORTING CARBINE, .30-30 CAL., #1XXX, MADE 1922-1924. This example has the short-lived MARLIN FIREARMS CORPORATION marking on the barrel that according to the Marlin Book by Brophy was only used from 1922-1924. After this time it was changed to the MARLIN FIREARMS COMPANY until 1935. The Sporting Carbines have hard rubber Marlin embossed butt plates, 2/3 Magazines and 20” round barrels with typical carbine barrel bands. The case colored receiver on this one has faded and silvered with some light case color remaining. Bolt shows good case color as does the upper portion of the lever, and there is fine blue on the loading gate. The barrel and magazine retain about all the blue with excellent markings. Fitted with a buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar and a Marble Sheard No.6 marked blade/bead front sight. Stock has a little better grade of walnut than usually seen and both stock and forend are excellent with tight wood to metal fit. Tight action with strong safety half-cock and minty bright bore. This was the last of the great Model 1893s which were replaced with the Model 1936 and M-36 and finally redesigned as the Model 336. A really scarce model, fine condition 100+ year old Marlin.
