MARLIN MODEL 1893 LEVER ACTION chambered in .32-40 made in 1902
SALE PENDING
Description:
Old but Well cared for Marlin model 1893 chambered in the less common 32-40 caliber, made in 1902. Most Marlin 1893s were chambered in 30-30 or 32 Special. A nice one in 32-40 is hard to find. Considering the fact that this one is 124 years old, it is in very good condition. The bore is bright with strong riflings. The action is very smooth and feeds properly with no problems. The barrel shows a lot of blue left. My Grandfather would have called this "A Good, Honest Gun". It has been used over its life, but has been very well cared for. The patina gives this rifle character and style. Even this chambering is appropriate for a rifle that may have been used on the frontier.
The walnut stock is worn and has some small gouges and scratches as you can see in the photos, but it is intact. There is a tiny crack in the forend where it meets the receiver on the left side next to the barrel channel. You have to look closely to see it and it does not affect function.
The rifle has not been altered, having the original buttplate and sights, but there is evidence of it once having a tang sight installed. The tang sight has been removed but the factory filler screws have been replaced by the tang sight screws. If you are looking for a well functioning 1893 that you can use, and you appreciate the look of proper wear and patina on these old rifles, this may be the one for you!
Please look over the photos carefully. I have endeavored to take accurate photos that depict the actual condition of the item. Please contact me with any questions, Thank you for looking!
