Marlin Model 39 22 cal Rifle HS Prefix High Speed Ammo Last One Made?
Description: ********* SALE PENDING PAUL IN MA ********* Marlin Model 39 in caliber 22 short/long/long rifle, 24" octagon barrel with Ballard-style rifling, blued and case hardened finish, plain walnut stocks with some extra grain in the butt stock, plain pistol grip, open sights, hard rubber Marlin logo butt plate, trademark "Bullseye" in the toe line of the butt, take down frame, lever action, receiver factory drilled and tapped for several types of receiver sights, tube-fed magazine, "HS" prefix, so it is 1938 or so production, possibly the last one made as the Marlin book by Col. Brophy lists the highest recorded or reported serial number as HS18784; this example is HS19233! The HS prefix Model 39s had an improved breech and locking bolt design to handle high velocity ammo. Firearm is 95% overall bright original blue with just a few nicks and scratches to the stocks, no splits or cracks, butter-smooth action with properly-working half-cock safety, correct open sights, excellent bore, tight takedown with no wobble, mag tube locks up tightly, no extra holes, strong case colors remaining on the receiver. There is a slight ding in the bottom of the mag tube that does not affect operation; I have fed and fired about 30 rounds through this and it feeds/fires/ejects perfectly. 100% original, highly collectible, potentially historical, and hard to find a better one without taking out a loan or line of credit.
