Scarce Marlin Model 39A Second Variation Made 1941 High Condition
Description: Note: Buy Now will end the listing, we will both be notified, and will complete the transaction privately. Guns International does not provide a checkout system like some other s. Marlin Model 39A lever action rifle, caliber 22 short, long, long rifle, 24" round barrel, full tubular magazine with inner loading tube, plain walnut stocks with plain pistol grip and hard rubber butt plate, case hardened receiver/hammer/lever, take down frame, open sights, plain trigger, serial number B5618, made in 1941. The 2nd variation retained the case hardening but changed to the flat pistol grip (versus the "S" shape on the Model 39 and 1st variation 39A); likewise the change to the round barrel started with this variation and continued for the remainder of the production of the 39A (excluding special editions). CONDITION: Receiver, hammer and lever retain 97% original bright case colors. Stocks show very light use, no splits or cracks, fore arm slightly loose due to age drying over the last 83 years. Action is butter-smooth, and the half-cock safety works as it should. Take down is tight with no wobble. Front and rear sights are correct. Marlin "Bullseye" is present in the bottom of the butt stock. Barrel retains 95% bright, original blue. Mag tube sports 80% original blue with some thinning on the bottom and some surface oxidation beginning at the end (but no pitting anywhere whatsoever). Bore is super sharp and shiny, rating a 9.5 of 10, having the original Ballard style rifling (pre Micro Groove). Receiver is drilled and tapped for several varieties of peep sights and scope mounts; also has two extra holes on the left side from prior scope mounting. As it stands, it is a beautiful, early Model 39A Marlin that will continue to appreciate in value over time due to its condition and rarity. No international sales. No sales to Alaska and Hawaii.
