1970 Vintage Marlin Model 336 Lever-Action Rifle w/ Inlaid Centennial Medallion in .30-30 Winchester Caliber Beautiful 100% Original Rifle SOLD
Description: This 1970 manufacture Marlin Model 336 in .30-30 Winchester was made during the firm's Centennial, celebrating 100 years from 1870 to 1970. Only a select number of rifles made in 1970 received an inlaid medallion with the dates "1870" and "1970" on it along with the Marlin company logo of a mounted cowboy. This rifle is a beautfiul all-original and un-messed with example that has obviously spent most of it's life in a safe or storage. The original factory blue finish rates 96 to 97%, with the only deductions coming from some very minor handling marks and a little browning on the tangs/lever. The 20" inch barrel with a Micro-Groove bore is in excellent condition and bright, with no pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections. The factory iron sights are intact and in excellent shape with the original rear sight elevator in place, however the front sight hood is missing. The factory gold-finished trigger retains 95% of the original finish, and the receiver shows zero evidence of having ever had a scope base mounted on it. The original smooth American walnut pistol-grip stock set is in great shape overall, with only some minor handling/storage marks in the wood and no cracks, chips, or repairs. This rifle has never had any sling swivel studs in it, and the original Marlin "Bullseye" insert is still in place. Both the black pistol grip cap with a white spacer and the Marlin-branded black plastic buttplate and white spacer are still in place, and in great shape with no cracks. The action on this Model 336 is smooth and precise, and locks into battery perfectly. All of the controls are in 100% functioning condition like the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for one of these finely-made vintage Marlin Model 336's for your collection this 1970 example would be an excellent choice.
