J.M. MARLIN Model 1939 Lever Action .22 Rimfire HUNTING/SPORTING C&R Rifle EARLY PRODUCTION Model 39 Rimfire Rifle
Description: J.M. MARLIN Model 1939 Lever Action .22 Rimfire HUNTING/SPORTING C&R Rifle EARLY PRODUCTION Model 39 Rimfire Rifle Here we present a C&R J.M. Marlin Model 1939 Rifle chambered in .22 Rimfire, made circa 1922 in New Haven, Connecticut with a production run between 1922 and 1938. Marlin was one of Winchester’s biggest competitors for the lever action market in the late-19th and into the 20th Century. Introduced in 1922, the Model 39 was chambered for .22 rimfire and had a 24" octagonal barrel and a take-down receiver. Its full-length magazine tube holds 25 Shorts, 20 Longs or 18 LR cartridges. Most of the Model 39s had a spring-loaded button outer magazine tube release. It sports a solid top frame and side ejection with the receiver, lever and hammer case colored, with the barrel blued. The pistol-grip stock and steel-capped forearm are varnished walnut. As mentioned above, these were manufactured in this form between 1922 and 1938, with a number of options that could affect the value of the gun. Model 39s with a "star" stamped on tang were considered high grade guns by the factory inspector and command a premium over the lower grade examples. Model 39s made between 1921 and 1925 had no serial number prefix. Model 39s made between 1926 and 1932 have the “S” prefix. All remaining model 1939 rifles made through 1938 had the “HS” serial number prefix. NOTE: Rifles not having the “HS” prefix on the serial number means it should not have high speed .22 long rifle cartridges shot through it. The overall condition is good. Crisp action. The bore is bright and with nice thin rifling. This example sports a solid buttstock with average wear. The forend has some side to side movement. A chip is missing from the buttplate. Legible markings. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: .22 S, L, & LR Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1250 #227783 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
