The Marlin Ballard is a very old piece with a lot of history behind it. From what we can gather this firearm would have been made in the Early 1880s based on the Ballard company only being around from 1862-1891, and Marlin only made firearms for them during 1870-1890. The caliber is not mentioned anywhere on the rifle, however we have measured it and believe it to be .22 S/L/LR however it could be .22 RF. This is a collector piece for Kentuckians as the Ballard company was used by the Kentucky Volunteers during the American Civil War. This particular model probably didn't see any action as we have identified it as the No.3 Gallery model.
