Marlin Model 1895 SS JM stamp .45-70 with Simmons Aetec 2.8-10x44 Scope Exc. Condition
Description: The Marlin Model 1895 is one of the most famous lever action rifles in the world. Marlin designed the 1895 to fulfill a variety of roles but they are generally used as a “guide gun”, a rifle utilized by those operating in the back country or woods for use against large predators in the CPX3 and CPX4 classes. The 1895 is chambered for the legendary .45-70 Government, a cartridge that, when properly loaded, is fully capable of taking any game on Earth. This includes grizzly bears, bison, and African dangerous game. Rifles like these are especially popular in Alaska for this reason, but the 1895 is suitable for use anywhere in the backwoods or mountains. The 1895 shown here has the standard 22” barrel. While Guide Gun versions of the M1895 are equipped with an 18.5” barrel, the 22” can effectively fulfill the same function. The extra barrel length also helps reduce felt recoil and provides better accuracy. The sights are the traditional buckhorn rear with flip-up/down capability for use with scopes, and a blade front sight with sight protector. The 2/3-length magazine tube holds 4 cartridges plus one in the chamber for a total of 5 rounds. The stock is equipped with a solid rubber recoil pad. Both the stock and fore end are equipped with sling swivel studs for the addition of a sling. The rifle is pre-owned and in excellent condition though some wear is present. It has been fitted with a hammer extension. The wood furniture has minor handling wear. The barrel and magazine tube exhibit a few spots of bluing loss caused by rust that was cleaned away at some point. These spots are small but still fairly visible. The receiver has one or two spots like this as well, but even smaller, and fewer in number. The lever has one notable spot on the right hand side that is similar to the spots on the barrel. The rifle has the famous “JM” stamp and was produced before Remington bought out Marlin. Best guess is that it was made around 1996. The rear sight rests lightly against the scope body but should not have any effect on it. Please note that there is no box. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .45-70 Government Manufacturer: Marlin Firearms Co.
