The cartridge it is chambered for, the famous .45-70 Government, is fully capable when properly loaded of taking any game on Earth. This includes grizzly bears, bison, and African dangerous game. Rifles like these are especially popular in Alaska for this reason, but the 1895G is suitable for use anywhere in the backwoods or mountains. The 1895G shown here has a factory ported, 18” barrel which uses Ballard rifling, making it suitable for use with either jacketed or cast bullets. The scope is a simple Redfield Partner 3-9x. The hammer of course has an extension for easier use while the scope is mounted to the rifle. The magazine tube holds 4 cartridges while one is in the chamber for a total of 5 rounds. The rifle is pre-owned but in excellent shape. It has the famous “JM” stamp and was produced before Remington bought out Marlin. Best guess is that it was made around 1999. The stock has some wear on the lower and upper right side. The bluing is in immaculate shape. The bore is fairly clean and exhibits no rust or pitting.
