GERMAN THURINGEN Deutsches SPORTMODELL Single Shot .22 LR Rifle C&R MAUSER DSM Thuringen GREEN HEART of GERMANY Model 34!
Description: GERMAN THURINGEN Deutsches SPORTMODELL Single Shot .22 LR Rifle C&R MAUSER DSM Thuringen GREEN HEART of GERMANY Model 34! Here we present a German Mauser Deutsches “Sportmodell” Single Shot Bolt Action Rifle made circa the mid-1930s in Zella-Mehlis, Germany. This Mauser bolt-action .22 LR rimfire rifle was made by one of many companies sub-contracting for the production of these allegedly sporting rifles (the German Government, post the First World War, were officially restricted to the production of only sporting arms. Military weapon manufacture was more or less forbidden by the Allies after the close of World War I. Some years on, the sporting rifles came to bear more than a passing resemblance to the old German service rifle). This new miniature caliber Mauser rifle became known as the DSM-34, by virtue of the " Deutsche Sportmodell" designation and the 1934 year of introduction. The DSM became one of the most common of the German "training" rifles. Also, among the many actual DSM’s manufactured by the various firms in Zella Mehlis, many clearly many did not engage in large scale production. These were small firms with a diverse manufacture of various firearms and related items in small quantity. Guilds or collaborating on production amongst the smaller firms had gone on for some time and was a means to compete with the larger Zella Mehlis Firms such as Anschutz and Walther – both noted to have produced the DSM in quantity. One also has to consider that even these smaller firms after 1935 became involved in other possibly more lucrative contracts relative to re-armament. The overall condition is fine. Lovely original blue finish. The action is robust. The bore is bright and reflective. All marks are clear and legible. This example sports a Lyman adjustable rear sight and a leather sling. This is a great historical piece and physical testament to how a good .22 rifle can train good marksmen! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 26 inches. Caliber: .22 Long Rifle Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1535 #201150 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
