Post-World War I Commercial Gew. 98 "Wehrmannsgewehr (serviceman's rifle)" Bolt Action Target Rifle with NRA Letter. This example retains it internal box magazine and is not a single shot. This gun is a conversion of military parts put together after WW1. The receiver is refinished and has been scrubbed of its manufacturer except for "N" "B" and what appears to be a "U" commercial proof stamps. The bolt assembly is not matched the gun has spotty surface patina throughout, but no rust or pitting. The barrel measures 29.5 inches and has been refinished and retains most of the blued finish, but the end of the barrel where the bayonet contacts the barrel. Barrel underside markings: BL. G /11.9 = lead bullet of 11.9 grams (ca 183 grains) a 7.6mm (tight 8mm!) bore with 46mm case, proofed Sept 1934, no. 344. Most all other parts are numbered, but none of them are matching. The bore is in good overall condition with worn rifling. The stock appears to have been sanded at some point. The stock has a duffel cut under the swivel band. Overall the stock is in very good condition and has no cracks. Comes with the bayonet and NRA papers. None
