Beautiful Mauser K98k Low Turret WWII German sniper rifle with matching scope, sheet metal parts, and laminated stock, virtually identical to the well documented example pictured in the encyclopedic "Karabiner K98k" series of books by Karem and Steves.

Description:

Standard configuration and all matching mid war Mauser K98k Low Turret Sniper rifle, SN: 21906k, cal. 8mm, with matching scope, several sheet metal components, and laminated stock. Virtually identical to the Low Turret example SN: 33280k pictured in the book "Karabiner 98k" by Karem and Steves, Volume IIa, pages 216, 217. This rifle has a hooded serrated ramp drift adjustable front sight and tangent rear sight graduated 1-20. Left side of the receiver marked with the full serial number, Eagle/135 acceptance suffixed by Mod.98. All visible parts matched to serial number 21906k to include both barrel bands (front sheet metal; rear machined), bolt release lever, bolt handle, all components of the bolt head (except for an unmarked safety lever), the floorplate, the stamped trigger guard, and the front scope ring whose curved numeration includes the surcharged scriptic "k". Barrel shank area with large digits "48W8". Blued cleaning rod is unmarked. Fitted with Dialytan 4x scope, bmj, SN: 67360, reticle with central pointed post bracketed by equally thick bars. Left side of rear submount marked "* E/35". Fine laminated handguard and stock with cupped buttplate, E/135 acceptances under pistol grip and a larger stamp on right side of buttstock, disassembly showing a matching SN handguard. No number inside barrel channel.

Condition:

VG+ finish with sharp edge wear, fading, and small scattered patches of spotty oxidation in usual areas, some under blue, others more recent. Finish loss most noticeable over the scope, extractor, and bolt knob. Haloed numbering on the rough-milled scope ring. The unnumbered safety lever on the bolt head and the original finish Mauser-accepted laminated stock are likely replacements. Near-EXC optics with minimal haze and a sharp reticle. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
