“Mauser Style”, Bruno vz24, Vet Bring Back, SN: 1522c, all matching but Bolt , Excellent
Description: At the close of World War One, the State of Czechoslovakia was formed out of Bohemia, Slovakia, Moravia, Ruthenia and the Sudetenland. It was dominated by the Czechs of Bohemia. Even before the Empire had formally capitulated, a small arms workshop was set up in a former Imperial Army Artillery Arsenal in Brno, which was in the middle of Moravia, to provide rifles to the new state of Czechoslovakia. It was decided that the best rifle for the new Czech Army was the Mauser 1898 type. The Mauser works at Oberendorf was restricted by The Treaty of Versailles from selling military arms. The Czech government arranged to buy a complete production line for the Gew 98, parts on hand, and all work in progress. The GEW98 design naturally evolved into the vz24 . The receiver was marked CESKOLOVENSKA / ZBROJOVKA / BRNO The production on the vz24 started in late 1924 or early 25 and lasted until 1942 producing hundreds of thousands of rifles. This vz24 was brought into German service after the invasion & occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939. When processed into German service, this rifle was re-designated “G24t”. The principal indicator of German use is the absence of the side swing swivel at the wrist, and its replacement by a walnut plug. This particular rifle was a G.I. Bring Back and has the familiar Duffle Cut under the front band Every part of this rifle is serial number matching, except for the bent bolt handle marked with a nazi eagle proof mark. Interestingly the handguard shows “22” on the outside rear. All parts on this rifle are matching including the buttstock, marks present. The rifle bears the acceptance mark “E-Eagle-31” indicating Army acceptance of production at the Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka Brno factory in 1931. It has the original Sling and Rod and an Excellent Bore. This is a classic European WWII Battle rifle than would be a great addition to any collection. 8mm Cal. Serial Number 1522c FFL REQUIRED SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
