Description:
CASED Commemorative WORLD WAR II Mauser “TROPHY EDITION” K98 C&R Rifle WW2
PRESENTATION Gun by the AMERICAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Presentation Cased Commemorative American Historical Society German Mauser Model K98 Karabiner Bolt Action Infantry Rifle, made circa 1942. In 1898 the German Army purchased a Mauser design, the Model 98, which incorporated improvements introduced in earlier models. The weapon was originally chambered for the Patrone 88 and officially entered German service as the Gew. 98 on April 5, 1898. This remains by far the most successful of the Mauser designs, helped by the onset of two world wars that demanded vast numbers of rifles.
This weapon’s line was originally chambered for the Patrone 88 and officially entered German service as the Gew. 98 on April 5, 1898. This remains by far the most successful of the Mauser designs, helped by the onset of two world wars that demanded vast numbers of rifles. At the start of World War II, the Führer demanded that the factory produce 70,000 Mauser rifles a month, and it delivered them with the help of 5,000 forced laborers from across Europe.
This example is fitted with a leather sling and includes a Velvet-lined presentation case, key, and plaque.
