Fabrique Nationale COLOMBIAN CONTRACT Model 1950 MAUSER Rifle C&R w/CREST
.30-06 Chambered with the COLOMBIAN CREST Intact
Description: Fabrique Nationale COLOMBIAN CONTRACT Model 1950 MAUSER Rifle C&R w/CREST .30-06 Chambered with the COLOMBIAN CREST Intact Here we present a C&R Fabrique Nationale Colombian Contract Model 1950 Mauser Pattern Rifle manufactured by FN Herstal circa the 1950s in Herstal, Belgium. The venerable Mauser has been in use in Colombia from 1891 to beyond the 1950s with at least eight different models seeing service. The customizations requested or favored by the Colombian government from its German, Austrian, and Belgian suppliers reflect the rifle’s use in the South American jungles and climate. In 1858, a year before Paul Mauser began work at the royal factory in Europe, Colombia was already a federal republic. Internal conflicts between the young nation’s Conservatives and Liberals led to another violent civil war from 1899 to 1902. The same rivalry between these two would later result in another civil war from 1946 to 1958. In 1903, the Colombian province of Panama revolted and declared independence. Colombia also became embroiled in a conflict with neighboring Peru when it attacked the Colombian colony of Leticia in 1932. The Colombian army launched a coup d’ etat in 1953 but returned power to the civilian government after a few years. One particular player remained constant in all these conflicts- the Mauser rifle, imported to Colombia by various governments over the years. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore has retained some shimmer with a frosted appearance and visible rifling. Solid stock overall. Legible markings. Black finish. The hand guard has some wiggle due to a loose barrel band. Mixed numbers. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 23-1/2 inches. Caliber: .30-06 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #230163 SOLD Antique: Yes |
