Mauser Custom Rifle 8x60mm - MANNLICHER CAPPED STOCK, CONTROLLED FEED, SET TRIGGER, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Mauser Germany, 8x60mm, 7lb 14oz, LOP 14 5/8" Serial Number: NSN A wonderful find, this custom built rifle features a Mauser action, a 20" barrel mounted on a Mannlicher type stock - this is truly one of a kind! This hunting rifle has a classic German claw mount, and it is sold with its original vintage Ajack 4X scope. While the gun has no identification number, the scope is serial numbered 9444 and roll stamped Jackenkroll Berlin So33 and is of WWI vintage. These scopes are rare and one in such high condition with all of its bluing is an amazing find. Its lenses and tube are clean, and the fine crosshairs remain sharp. Additionally, the scope comes with a leather holster. The rifle with scope weighs 7lb 14oz and without 6lb 14oz. This handy rifle has a two-part Mannlicher stock with ebony spacer near the front sling mount and a metal Schnable forend cap protects the muzzle from trees and branches. Indeed, this is a classic woodland gun, ideally suited to taking fast shots at fleeting game. However, for hunts where the gun is prepositioned it has a second set trigger. Setting this rear trigger then moving forward to the foremost blade offers a very fine trigger pull. In this instance it is set to .25lbs (and is adjustable) while using the trigger as normal yields a 5.4lb pull. Either way you will always have the perfect trigger for the perfect shot! The receiver has been tastefully engraved with a simple etch pattern with wavy borders, overall complimenting the elegant and functional look of this rifle. The bolt handle is the spoon type and matches the aesthetics of the gun. The stock has a teardrop shaped cheek piece and is capped with a traditional horn buttplate. All the screws are engraved with matching rosettes. The checkering is in excellent shape and has very fine diamonds with borders. The barrel exhibits a shiny bore with strong rifling, a full-length matted rib, a silver bead on its front blade and a two piece rear express sight. Collectively this rifle is a unique piece of old world craftmanship and elegance, this is a gun that has been in service for decades and wears its age with pride and yet has been so well cared for it now comes to market in excellent condition. It will be a staple in your hunting rotation and when not in the fields and woods of America it will look splendid exhibited proudly on a wall or gun rack. Act fast as there is no other rifle scope combo just like this one, enjoy.
