SN: 3828. 8mm Mauser/22 LR calibers. Mauser S/42 marked Model 98 rifle dated 1936 iwht an Eram EL24 22 claliber conversion kit installed. The .22 caliber bore is excellent with bright, strong rifling. The 8mm bore was not checked but based on the overall condition of the gun, it should also be excellent. The gun has approx. 96% blue overall. The Model 98 numbers are matching on the barrel, receiver, trigger housing, and stock (last 2 numbers visible). The buttplate is not matching. The receiver has the normal Model 98, serial number, and inspection markings. The top of the chamber is marked S/42 over 1936. The stock is fine with light issue usage and with no visible inspection marks. The Erma EL24 conversion kit is excellent with approx. 98% blue. The corrrect .22 caliber magazine is present. The action functions correctly. To convert back to the standard Model 98 rifle the EL24 unit would be removed and a standard Model 98 bolt and magazine incluinng the floorplate would be added. The front sight cover is present. The action functions correctly. This is a great example of an early Model 98 rifle with the scarce added Erma EL24 convesion kit. (R32235)
