Description: Superb Scarce Belgian Mauser 24/30 Short Rifle Venezuelan Contract Offered here for sale and just acquired is this superb scarce Belgian Mauser 24/30 “short” rifle made under Venezuela contract. This FN Mauser Model 24/30, made under Venezuelan contract, is an absolute “gem” of a rifle—especially considering its condition and rarity. The Model 24/30 was a variant of the standard Mauser rifle family, designed by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Belgium. FN produced this model in the late 1920s to 1930s as part of a contract for Venezuela. It was a scarce short rifle (with 23-1/4” barrel) with a distinctive feature set, and only a limited number were produced for this particular contract, making them rare and highly sought-after by collectors. Venezuela was known for purchasing quality Mauser rifles during this period, and they often used these weapons in their military, so these rifles have a special place in South American military history. The rifle appears to be UNFIRED and has never been exposed to firing wear and tear which makes it highly desirable for collectors who want to preserve an example in pristine condition. 7x57MM caliber. The specimen, serial number 38653 is ALL Matching on all parts (metal and stock) . and there are NO IMPORT MARKS. It has remained untouched since it left the factory and has not been pieced together from various sources. The inscription "Fab. Nat. D'Armes de Guerre-Herstal, Belgique" is significant. This is the full name of Fabrique Nationale (FN), which was known for producing some of the most iconic military firearms of the 20th century, including the FN 1910 and FN FAL. The detailed marking shows the rifle's authenticity and provenance, making it a prized example of Belgian craftsmanship. The rifle retains ALL of its original blueing and is exceptional. The unblued parts that are coated with an oil film, giving them a golden yellow hue, adds an additional layer of uniqueness to this rifle. The oil film, while serving as a protective coating, often gives older firearms a distinctive "vintage" look. The fact that this oil has not been wiped off adds to the originality and museum-quality condition of the piece. There are only a couple of slight minor storage marks on the wood. The wood on these Mauser rifles is typically a high-quality walnut,with beautiful figuring. The inclusion of a muzzle protector is a rare and nice touch. These were often issued with military rifles to protect the muzzle from dirt and debris when the rifles were not in use, and their presence with the rifle suggests it was cared for and stored properly. A museum-quality example like this one would be a crown jewel in any collection, especially for those focused on Mauser rifles or South American military history as well as foreign military contracts.
