Swedish Obendorf 1899 Mauser Model 38 (96/38) 6.5X55mm Swedish

Description:
This Swedish Mauser Model 38 (m/38) was adopted in 1938 to provide a more maneuverable rifle than the long m/96. This Model 38 was produced by reconfiguring an m/96 rifle and retaining the straight bolt handle. This rifle was upgraded from an original Obendorf Mauser dated 1899. Import marks are located on bottom of barrel near the cleaning rod. This rifle has a threaded muzzle break.

We find that the serial numbers on the receiver, entire bolt, floorplate and its T rear sight all match. The T rear sight was developed for the '41 Torped ammunition. The m/41 cartridge was adopted by the Swedish Army in 1941. 

This rifle is is in very nice condition. The walnut stock has beautiful fiddleback figuring. We have not altered this stock and see no evidence of sanding or repairs being made. The stock disk medallion reports the rifle to be in "0" condition while having no punch marks in the condition slot and also confirms the Torped ammo. The walnut stock has handling marks present including an approximately 12" scratch along and behind the floorplate on the left side of the stock. Note that this is not a crack; there are no cracks in this stock. It looks like, while in storage, a neighboring rifle's front sight was drug along the stock. We believe this mark could be steamed out by the purchaser of this rifle.
