World War II Era TURKISH ANKARA Model 1893/38 7.92mm Cal. MAUSER Rifle C&R
Turkish Military INFANTRY Rifle
Description: World War II Era TURKISH ANKARA Model 1893/38 7.92mm Cal. MAUSER Rifle C&R Turkish Military INFANTRY Rifle Here we present a C&R Turkish Ankara Model 1893/38 Military Rifle made in Ankara, Turkey. Many of the Turkish rifles were lumped together into a group called the Model of 1938, which wasn’t a single model, but rather a common set of features. The designation isn’t even one that the Turks used, but rather is a designation that U.S. importers used to describe these rifles. It is assumed that the Turkish military took whatever rifles that they had and converted them to this design. The markings on this rifle are T.C. for Turkive Cumhuriveti, for Republic of Turkey. A.S.F.A. for Askari Fabrika, or Military Factory. ANK ARA for the city of manufacture. This rifle underwent conversion as did almost all Turkish rifles in the 30's to standardize on the 8mm Mauser caliber and the M1938 Mauser style of rifle. This rifle was originally in 7.65x53mm Mauser like its predecessor the Model 1890 Mauer. To fit the 8mm Mauser caliber into a shorter small ring receiver, they simply milled a cut in the top of the receiver to accommodate the longer cartridge and either re-bored or re-barreled the rifles. This rifle also had a magazine cutoff, which was popular in the day, but was removed and filled in during the conversion. Many were converted to the new standard of cock-on-open. The Turks also liked to stamp the crescent moon symbol multiple places on the gun. Though the Turks were neutral in World War II, they were courted by both the Allies and the Axis. But even with the courting, they stayed neutral to the end of the war. They gave refuge to both sides, giving refuge to the Germans that were escaping the Soviets in Bulgaria and Romania in 1944, and the Allies in Greece in late 1944 and early 1945. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bore. The stock is in very good shape with average wear, minor scuffs, and dings. Legible markings. “CAI” marked barrel. “1933” dated barrel. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 29 inches. Caliber: 7.92mm Mauser Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
