Griffin & Howe .300 H&H Consecutive Pair
Description: Griffin & Howe consecutively numbered husband and wife pair built in 1967 and identical in every way except for LOP. Both built on Pre-War Oberndorf Mauser true magnum length Single Square Bridge actions. Both with 24 1/2" barrels with banded ramp front sights, banded front sling swivels, and matted and engraved quarter ribs with single folding leaf rear sites with gold inlayed center lines. Actions feature matted front rings and square bridges, G&H sidemounts with 1" rings, finely jeweled bolts and extactors, Buehler safeties, and drop box magazines with straddle floorplates and trigger bow releases. Bolt knobs with 4-panel checkering and engraving. Both stocked in European Walnut Monte Carlo pistol grip stocks with point pattern checkering, steel pistol grip caps, and ebony forend tips. Both weigh in at 8lb 15oz without scopes. Gun #1- 13 9/16" LOP over 5/16" spacer and 1" Silver's type pad. "A.L.B." in stock oval. Built on a 1912 SSB Oberndorf Magnum Mauser action Gun #2- 14 1/8" LOP over 1" Silver's type pad with "E.M.B." in stock oval. Built on a 1924 SSB Oberndorf Magnum Mauser action Both guns show light hunting use and reportedly have been to Africa. Both in 96% overall condition. Griffin & Howe letter included. 1967, the "Age of Aquarius" and two years prior to the birth of "The Woodstock Nation" President Lyndon Johnson was escalating the war in Viet Nam. Jimi Hendrix was recording "Purple Haze" Rolling Stone magazine first appeared at the news stand, "Cool Hand Luke" premiered at the theater, and "The Newlywed Game" premiered on TV.
