Description:
German bolt action Mauser "Sporter" chambered 7.57 Mauser. The left side of the barrel is marked "H KERNER GEISSEN. The left side of the barrel shank is marked with German proof stamps and serial number "0572". The left side of the receiver is marked "MAUSER-WERKE AG OBERNDORF A/N" The right side of the barrel is marked 7.57 and the rear right receiver ring is marked with the importer "SIMPSON LTD GALESBURG IL". The bolt is a bent down controlled feed with a standard 98 lever safety and a safety is also mounted on the tang. The stock is a one piece full length checkered walnut mannlicher with a plastic schnabel forend cap and sling loops mounted front and rear. The butt plate is a hard serrated plastic. The front sight is a bladed bead on a serrated ramp attached to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a U notch folding leaf with a fixed leaf dovetailed to a base on the barrel. THE STOCK HAS A CRACK IN THE RIGHT WRIST. 7X57mm Mauser
