Mauser Model B Medium Sporting Rifle

Serial #77021, 8mm Mauser, 24" round barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a very small amount of freckling within the grooves. The metal surfaces retain about 85-90% original blue with some mild silvering along the high edges and on the bearing surfaces of the matching numbered bolt. Some mild plum-brown freckling is also present throughout, heaviest on the trigger guard bow and bolt handle. The checkered walnut, round knob, pistol grip stock rates very good with scattered minor handling marks and minor surface blemishes. The stock itself is from a so-called “Tauscher Army Hunting Model C Rifle” and is branded on the right side of the butt with the Mauser Banner logo over “U.S. 1906”. Those were .30-06 chambered rifles imported by Mauser's U.S. agent, Hans Tauscher, prior to WWI. This 8mm Model B was evidently restocked with the Model C example in the interim, and the stock mates with the action and barrel perfectly. The rifle is equipped with a simple bead front sight on a sporting ramp, and is paired with a three leaf, U-notch rear sight (graduated for 100, 200, and 300 meters). This is a truly handsome rifle and is in fine overall condition. FFL or C&R
