"Serial no. 4959. Manufactured in 1899 by Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori, chambered in 6.5x55mm,29 ½"" round import-marked barrel. The bore is excellent with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are matching. Approximately 85% of the original blue remains, thinning in areas to a light grey patina consistent with age and careful use. The Model 1896 is widely regarded as one of the finest Mauser-pattern service rifles produced, known for its precision manufacturing and smooth operation. The stock is very good with light handling impressions noted. The action is exceptionally smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
