Carl Gustafs M96 Rifle, 6.5 x 55 Swede, 29" Barrel, 9.25 lbs.
Description:
The Carl Gustafs M/96, often called the "Swedish Mauser," is a bolt-action service rifle produced primarily at the Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The 29.1" barrel version is the classic "Long Rifle" configuration, celebrated by collectors for its exceptional accuracy and high-grade Swedish steel. Unlike many wartime rifles, the M/96 was built during peacetime with very tight tolerances. The bolts are famously smooth, and the triggers are often superior to other military surplus rifles of the era. Because of the long barrel and the 6.5x55mm cartridge, this rifle remains a favorite for vintage military bolt-action competitions. Many are still found in "excellent" condition because Sweden remained neutral through both World Wars, meaning the rifles saw little combat wear. 6.5x55 Swedish
