SWEDISH CARL GUSTAF Model 1896 6.5x55mm Caliber C&R MAUSER Bolt Action RIFLE With SCOPE and SLING!
Description: SWEDISH CARL GUSTAF Model 1896 6.5x55mm Caliber C&R MAUSER Bolt Action RIFLE With SCOPE and SLING! Here we present a Swedish Carl Gustaf Model 1896 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle made circa 1904 in Eskilstuna, Sweden with a total of 475,000 between 1896 and 1932. The Model 1896 rifle in 6.5×55mm was adopted in 1896 for infantry use, replacing the Model 1867–1889 Remington rolling block rifle. Swedish production started in 1898 at Carl Gustafs, but additional rifles were produced by Mauser during 1899 and 1900 because of delays in shipping additional production machinery from Germany to Sweden. The “Swedish Mausers” have a unique global history and were introduced to Americans during the 1950s and 60s from oversea surplus. This helped to give the already popular cartridge even more of a global reach. The 6.5x55 was known for having moderate recoil, consistent trajectory, and reliable power. It is a solid hunting round with a medium capacity that has been proven time and time again. Americans loved these surplus rifles in the Swedish caliber due to the above average workmanship, quality, and overall performance. These traits can be merited on one hand to the neutrality Sweden maintained during WWI and WWII. Thus, there was never a lapse in quality, no corners were cut, to meet the high wartime demand. This resulted in amazing production consistency and an unchanging rifle. The overall condition is very good. Nice blue finish. The action is strong all around. The bore is bright. This example sports a solid stock that was designed with practicality and beauty in mind. The numbers match on the barrel, receiver, floor plate and bolt. A 4x32 Monoscope is installed on Redfield mount. The scope remains very clear. This piece has either a shortened barrel (18 inches) or a replacement, from its original 29-inch barrel and it is marked 6.5x55 (Swede). This was a very nice European military rifle that a previous owner has made into a very nice hunting rifle. With its history, its unique aesthetic, its cartridge and overall short configuration, this will make a heck of a splash in deer camp. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 18 inches. Caliber: 6.5x55mm Swedish Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1115 #201437 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
