Swedish Mauser Mod.96 Rare 1905 Original
Description: With the history evidenced on the stock, this collector rifle is extremely rare in the fact that all of the furniture and fittings parts of this rifle are same parts put together 116 years ago. The 2 crown proof marks indicate the rifle was put through the armory once after original production without changing out any part. The handguard and stock numbers match the receiver number- extremely rare event. The barrel is original; the number- see photo- which cannot be seen without handguard removal, match the receiver number. The barrel has the usual bright strong grooves common of Swedish steel, shows no rust or corrosion, with 99% bluing. The stock disk, with the “2” marked indicates the original 116 year old barrel has only “moderate” wear. Both barrel bands are numbered to the receiver. Each of the three parts of the rear sight have numbers matching the receiver. The magazine exterior plate number and the unusual hidden number- see photo- match the receiver. All bolt parts are numbered to the receiver. Even the bolt catch or ejector box on left side of receiver has a matching number. There are no repair proof marks- crown over initials. The bluing of the rifle I would rate throughout as 95-98%. The stock shows 116 years of use but is the original walnut stock. The stock fit is remarkably tight to all metal fittings indicating there has not been any sanding or major repair. Everything about this rifle shows exceptional Swedish craftsmanship and high quality steel fittings. This truly original rifle is extremely rare. If interested, I have more photos of specific areas.
