Fabrique Nationale VENEZUELAN CONTRACT M1930 MAUSER Rifle with CREST C&R
Chambered in .30-06 Springfield
Description: Fabrique Nationale VENEZUELAN CONTRACT M1930 MAUSER Rifle with CREST C&R Chambered in .30-06 Springfield Here we present a C&R Fabrique Nationale Venezuelan Contract Model 1930 Mauser Pattern Rifle manufactured by FN D’Armes de Guerre Herstal-Belgique circa the 1950s in Herstal, Belgium. Beginning with an initial order in the mid-1930s consisting of Model 1930 Mauser rifles, bayonets, and ammunition, Venezuela began purchasing Fabrique Nationale and established a strong relationship. These standard configuration rifles, which featured the Venezuelan crest on the receiver ring, were supplied to the military. However, many of these rifles were left in storage and never saw actual field use. Between 1936 and 1940, Fabrique Nationale shipped a total of 30,000 Model 1930 rifles to Venezuela. In 1948, an additional 10,000 rifles with Spitzer ammunition were ordered. Venezuela's wealth from its natural resources led to an overzealous purchasing of equipment, resulting in many rifles being left in storage and never used. These rifles, many of which were in mint condition, were eventually sold as surplus in the 1960s and 1970s. Even today, Venezuela still holds some of these rifles in its inventory. In 2011, Fabrique Nationale Model 1930 rifles were displayed on parade during the 200th anniversary of Venezuela’s founding, showcasing the lasting impact of this arms relationship between the two countries.
