The stocks are made from Turkish walnut officially classified by the Mauser factory as Wood Grade 5, but frankly this rifle should have been graded as a 7. Depending upon wood density, the weight is just under 10lbs.The bottom line: this is a Mauser sporter made in the continuing spirit of the Mauser Oberndorf Type A and B sporters of the prewar golden age, but with modern refinements like Recknagle scope mounts and 3-position, Model 70-style safeties. This is the epitome of a premium working rifle!
